“Creating user experiences by combining research, strategy and design…”
Coming soon! I am working on the renewal of my portfolio right now. You can check what is already there, or contact me to learn more about me and my work.
Let me introduce myself
My education, experience and freelance work.
Hi! I am Anika, a user experience designer and researcher, with a bachelor’s degree in ICT & Media Design and a master’s degree in Industrial Design. During my studies, I followed a ‘powertraining’ regarding video making by Megens and Veenstra and I learned more about marketing in the suitably named minor Digital Marketing. The internship I am most proud of was at Valtech, where I had a position related to user experience design. I have combined my studies with a freelancing job so that I could already gain experience as a designer, videographer and marketeer.
In 2019 I graduated from Fontys University of Applied Sciences in Eindhoven as an ICT & Media designer. During this bachelor’s program, I learned everything related to digital media. Think of concepting, strategy, programming and user experience. The minor Digital Marketing has been a perfect addition when it comes to not only creating but also positioning products and services I created. To broaden and complement my knowledge especially with regards to research and product design, I enrolled in the master Industrial Design. Learning more about product and service design and how to conduct design research has been great to develop myself as a designer and researcher. I graduated with a project focused on the interesting phenomenon of serendipity, which I studied in an outdoors context, by means of a methodology based on photography.
Experience design for society
Where design should be headed
Structured, enterprising, ambitious, curious, business-oriented, generalist and planner are all words I have used to describe myself as a designer and videographer over the past couple of years. Right now, I would describe myself as a user experience designer most interested in the conceptual and strategic side of digital but also product and service design. I consider my research skills to be my most important tool to get to the core of a project, problem and target group, so that I can translate the insights into pretty and mostly functional concepts and designs.
During my master’s, I have touched on subjects like calm technology to create solutions that are based on the idea that design is at its best when it works seamlessly, without requiring a lot of attention. Besides my desire to design well-fitting, mostly non-disturbing products and services, I would like to work on projects where I can use my skills to support our society and environment. Think of topics such as sustainability, health, ethics, well-being, etc. In this way I hope to make my contribution, even if it is only small in the big picture.
